Still, I reckon there's gotta be an easier way to parcel up a mix by
setting snip points and just hitting "snip all" rather than doing the whole
thing one track at a time ?
Although perhaps there's no freeware/shareware app that offers this feature
; or perhaps it's because I've never bothered to track such an app down...
I'd be very surprised if there wasn't though.
If anyone knows of such an app then do please let us know.
While I'm on I might aswell ask if anyone's got any idea if there's an app
for OSX (panther) that will convert FLAC files to LAME mp3 without having
to decode to AIFF first ? I think the app Max might do it if ones running
Tiger, but I wonder is there anything (other than xTract) that I might use
running Panther to decode FLAC to LAME without first decoding to AIFF ?
If not I may just go ahead and take down that Burial album as mp3 as
opposed to FLAC (is that slack or what ?).

On Windows I've used a freeware program called mp3DirectCut: http://
www.mpesch3.de/
But Brian's right - if you know the start/end times for the bits you
want, you can use iTunes. It's under Options in the track info
dialog. That seems much easier, and I'll probably do that in the
